Rights Respecting School
Silver Award

We are proud to have achieved the UNICEF UK Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award, recognising the significant progress we have made in embedding the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) throughout our school community.

Achieving Silver Award status demonstrates our strong commitment to ensuring that children’s rights are at the heart of our school’s values, ethos and everyday practice. As a Rights Respecting School, we strive to create a safe, inclusive and respectful environment where every student feels valued, listened to and empowered to succeed.

Through our rights-respecting approach, our students develop confidence, respect for others, an understanding of fairness and equality, and the skills to become active and responsible members of society.

What Does the Silver Award Mean?

Achieving the ‘Silver: Rights Aware’ Award is an important milestone in our Rights Respecting Schools journey and recognises the significant progress we have made in embedding children’s rights across our school community.

Achieving Silver means that:

  • Children’s rights are becoming embedded in the ethos, values and everyday life of our school.
  • Students have a growing understanding of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and can talk about how rights impact their lives and the lives of others.
  • Staff, governors and the wider school community have developed a deeper understanding of children’s rights and are committed to promoting and respecting them.
  • Students are increasingly given meaningful opportunities to have their voices heard and to take part in decisions that affect them.
  • A rights-based approach is evident across the curriculum, relationships, behaviour and school environment.
  • Our school is actively promoting equality, dignity, respect and inclusion for all members of the school community.

Achieving this award demonstrates that children’s rights are not just taught, but are being lived and experienced throughout our school. It reflects our commitment to ensuring every child feels safe, valued, respected and heard.

We are incredibly proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing our journey towards the ‘Gold: Rights Respecting’ Award as we further strengthen our rights-respecting culture across the whole school community.
